国际英语新闻:3 killed, 20 wounded in separate bombings in Iraq
BAGHDAD, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- Three people were killed and 20 wounded in separate bomb attacks, including a suicide bombing, in Iraq on Sunday, police said.
In the north central province of Salahudin, a suicide bomber blew up his explosive-laden car near the office of the Iraqi communist party at a commercial area in the city of Tuz-Khurmato, some 200 km north of the Iraqi capital of Baghdad, killing three people and wounding 13 others, a local police source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
The blast also damaged the building of the office and left several vehicles ablaze, the source said.
Separately, three soldiers and four civilians were wounded in three roadside bomb explosions across the eastern province of Diyala during the day, a provincial police source anonymously told Xinhua.
Iraq is witnessing its worst eruption of violence in recent years, which raises fears that the country is sliding back to a full-blown civil conflict that peaked in 2006 and 2007, when monthly death toll sometimes exceeded 3,000.
