国际英语新闻:6 killed, 35 injured as blast hits Quetta, SW Pakistan
ISLAMABAD, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- At least six people were killed and 35 others injured as a blast hit Pakistan's southwest city of Quetta on Thursday afternoon, said hospital sources.
Local Urdu TV channel Samaa quoted sources with Civil Hospital in Quetta, which admitted the blast victims, as saying that ten people were critically injured and the death toll may further rise.
A policeman and a child were killed and five policemen were injured, said local media.
The blast took place at about 5:00 p.m. local time at the Liaqat bazar of the city, according to local media.
The bomb was planted on a motorbike parked nearby a police station at the bazar and it was detonated through a remote control device, said the reports.
Bomb disposal squad officers said that an estimated 10 to 12 kg of explosives were used in the bomb.
Over a dozen of shops and several vehicles were damaged in the blast.
Police and rescue team arrived at the scene shortly after the blast was reported.
A search operation was kicked off in the nearby area.
No group has claimed responsibility for the bomb attack yet.
