ISLAMABAD, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- At least four people were killed and 14 others injured when a bomb blast followed by a gas cylinder explosion hit Pakistan's southwestern provincial capital of Quetta on Wednesday, said police officers.

Regional Police Officer Arif Nawaz Khan said that the first incident took place at 5:10 p.m. when a bomb exploded with a big bang in the auto parts market at the Double Road of Quetta, capital of Balochistan province.

Police and rescue teams rushed to site and shifted the bodies and injured to the hospital.

During the rescue operation, the impact of the first blast triggered the explosion of a gas cylinder of a vehicle parked nearby and injured a couple of rescuers, rescue officials told Xinhua's reporter at the site.

At least five injured were reportedly in critical condition and were being treated in intensive care units of the hospital after their successful surgeries.

The bomb blast, which also caused a big fire, destroyed eight vehicles completely and left 12 others damaged with the windowpanes of nearby buildings smashed.

The police said that around 6-7 kilograms of explosives along with ball bearings was used in the bomb that was planted in a bicycle and detonated with a time device.

Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif condemned the attack strongly and advised the authorities to provide best possible medical treatment to the injured.

Police and security forces have cordoned off the area and started snap checking in the city for a manhunt.

No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
