国际英语新闻:Obama to update national security strategy
WASHINGTON, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Barack Obama is to update his National Security Strategy next year, according to the White House on Friday.
In a letter to the Congress, Obama said he intends to release a new National Security Strategy in early 2014, updating the previous one released in 2010 and describing his administration's national security priorities for the remainder of his term. He said he will also submit a broader update on the "whole-of- government implementation plan" to reflect this new strategy.
In the National Security Strategy of 2010, Obama outlined his security priorities, which included ending the war in Iraq; disrupting, dismantling and defeating al-Qaeda; and achieving economic recovery at home and abroad. Obama also provided an implementation plan in September 2012 detailing the administration 's work to advance the effort.
