LASHKAR GAH, Afghanistan, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- Four civilians were wounded in a suicide bomb attack that killed the attacker at the spot in Afghanistan's southern province of Helmand on Monday, said the police.
"At around 5:15 p.m. local time Monday, a suicide attacker riding a motorcycle detonated his explosive close to the car dealer market in Lashkar Gah, causing four civilians wounded," deputy provincial police chief Mohammad Wais told Xinhua.
The wounded people were shifted to a hospital in the city, 555 km south of the Afghan capital of Kabul, the police chief said, adding "none of the injured people sustained life-threatening wounds."
The target of the attack remained unknown.
About 2,900 civilians were killed and nearly 5,700 wounded in conflicts and Taliban-led attacks in the war-torn country last year, according to United Nation mission officials.
