国际英语新闻:Explosive detonated near Israeli military vehicle at border
JERUSALEM, March 14 (Xinhua) -- An explosive device was detonated near an Israeli military vehicle patrolling across the Lebanese-Israeli border on Friday afternoon, a military source confirmed to Xinhua.
Local media reported that a military vehicle had been slightly wounded as a result of the explosion and no injuries had been reported. The details of the incident are being investigated by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).
According to Lebanese media sources, the IDF fired artillery into Lebanon following the event, adding that the shells were used as a smoke screen in order to get soldiers out of the field.
On Wednesday, an IDF force spotted suspicious figures allegedly attempting to place an explosive device near the Syrian-Israeli border along the Golan Heights. The force fired at the culprits, no casualties were reported.
The military said the Lebanese Shiite militant Hezbollah party is behind the attempt.
In November, two Israeli military officers suffered light and mediocre wounds from a detonated explosive not far from Friday's incident near the border.
In February, reports mounted about Israeli fighter jets strikes on strategic positions on the Lebanese-Syrian Border. Hezbollah vowed to avenge the strike, which was carried out by the Israeli Air Force.
