国际英语新闻:Moscow says DPRK confirms top leader's visit in May
MOSCOW, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has confirmed that its top leader Kim Jong Un would come to Moscow in May for celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi Germany, the Kremlin said Wednesday.
"The North Korean leader's participation has been confirmed, and we are getting ready for his arrival," the Interfax news agency quoted Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov as saying.
A week earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the country received a "positive initial signal" from the DPRK about Kim's visit to Moscow in May.
Russia celebrates Victory Day on May 9 every year to mark the victory over Nazi Germany in the Great Patriotic War, Russia's term for World War II.
