国际英语新闻:UN chief to arrive in Nigeria on a two-day visit
ABUJA, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- United Nations secretary-general Ban Ki-moon is to arrive in Nigeria Sunday on a multipurpose two-day visit, Nigeria's foreign ministry confirmed Friday.
During his official visit, the UN chief will hold a meeting with Nigeria's 36 state governors under the theme "pathways to a new Nigeria: role of sub-national governments", the foreign ministry statement said.
The UN top chief will also perform the laying of wreath to commemorate the fourth anniversary of a deadly bomb attack on the United Nations House in the Nigerian capital Abuja, before proceeding on a field visit in the city.
Aside two other dialogues on economy and democracy in Nigeria, which Ki-moon is expected to attend, the high-point of his visit to the West African country will be his meeting with the Nigerian leader, Muhammadu Buhari, whom he last met in Germany, during the recent G7 summit.
The Nigerian leader and the visiting UN chief are billed to address a joint press conference after their meeting, the foreign ministry said.
