国际英语新闻:Israel strikes Gaza targets after rocket launched at Israel
JERUSALEM, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- The Israeli Air Force (IAF) struck several targets in the Gaza Strip late Monday, after rockets were fired from the Hamas-ruled enclave towards southern Israel earlier in the evening.
"In response to the attack, IAF aircrafts targeted two terror sites of the Hamas terror organization in southern Gaza Strip," the Israeli military said in a statement.
It did not specify whether anyone was injured in the air strike, while Palestinian media outlets reported at least one person was injured in the strike, but did not report his condition.
Peter Learner, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Spokesperson, added that Israel views Hamas responsible for any attacks carried out from its turf.
"Hamas must enforce their responsibilities or face the consequences," Lerner said in a statement. "We will act against those that attack us and hold those that enable attacks against Israel accountable."
No injuries or damages were reported in the rocket launch on Monday evening, as the rocket exploded in an open territory, according to the Israeli army and police.
Militants in the Gaza Strip, ruled by Hamas since 2007, fired several rockets in recent weeks, causing no injuries or damages.
The Israeli army mostly retaliated by air strikes, with one of the strikes earlier this month killing a Palestinian woman and her daughter as the Israeli army struck a house nearby a Hamas target.
The launch of rockets, along with clashes between Palestinians in the enclave and Israeli soldiers on the Israeli side of the border fence, mark the spread of a wave of violence, which started in Jerusalem and spread to the West Bank and throughout Israel that has saw 10 Israelis and 58 Palestinians killed.
