国际英语新闻:Saudi Arabia urges Syria to stick to truce
RIYADH, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Arabia's foreign ministry demanded on Tuesday Bashar al-Assad's government to stick to the ceasefire for the best interests of Syrians, Saudi Press Agency reported.
An official source from the ministry stated that Saudi Arabia supports the implementation of the temporary ceasefire in Syria.
The source said the truce will contribute to relieving the humanitarian suffering of Syrian people.
Saudi Arabia also stressed the importance of abiding by this truce by Assad's government and his allies, adding that the truce would help restart the political process in Syria which would lead to peaceful transition of power.
The truce came into effect on Monday evening brokered by the United States and Russia.
