国际英语新闻:Over 40 refugees arrested for vandalism in Bulgaria
SOFIA, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- Over 40 refugees were arrested on Thursday evening for vandalism in the Registration and Reception Center in the Bulgarian town of Harmanli near the border with Turkey, officials said.
Shortly after 8:00 p.m. local time (1800 GMT) a spontaneous manifestation of discontent occurred among the people accommodated in the center, and state property was destroyed, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement.
Police officers used a water cannon and rubber bullets to restore the order, the statement said.
"The situation is under control," the statement said.
Four policemen were injured, it said.
Currently, about 3,000 migrants mostly from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan are housed in the center.
They grumbled because of the prohibition to leave the center, the ministry said.
