国际英语新闻:Putin, Trump agree to coordinate efforts on Korean Peninsula tensions: Kremlin
MOSCOW, May 2 (Xinhua) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump agreed Tuesday to work jointly to seek diplomatic solutions to the Korean Peninsula tensions and consolidate truce in Syria during a phone conversation, the Kremlin said.
"Putin called for restraint and a reduction in the level of tensions (in the Korean Peninsula). The presidents agreed to work jointly to settle the problem in a diplomatic way," said a Kremlin statement.
Both leaders also agreed to intensify the dialogue between the foreign ministers of the two countries on the search for options that help consolidate the ceasefire regime in Syria, according to the statement.
"The goal is to create prerequisites for launching a real settlement process in Syria," it added.
During their phone conversation, Putin and Trump spoke in favor of continuing contacts and organizing a personal meeting on the sideline of the G20 summit to be held in Hamburg, Germany, on July 7 and 8.
