国际英语新闻:Russian stance on Ukraine, Syria never affected by U.S. sanctions: lawmaker
MOSCOW, July 9 (Xinhua) -- Russia will not change its policy on Ukraine and Syria despite the pressure of sanctions imposed by Washington, said a senior Russian lawmaker Sunday following U.S. President Donald Trump's twitter on sanctions.
Moscow's stance on Syria and Ukraine has never been and will never be defined by U.S. sanctions, RIA Novosti news agency quoted Konstantin Kosachev, chairman of the Russian Federation Council's Foreign Affairs Committee, as saying.
"Sanctions were not discussed at my meeting with President Putin. Nothing will be done until the Ukrainian & Syrian problems are solved!" Trump tweeted after his first meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Germany's Hamburg.
According to Kosachev, Trump aimed to demonstrate progress in relations with Russia on Syria and Ukraine as he is under domestic pressure from the U.S. Congress.
