国际英语新闻:Sudan, Egypt?reiterate?commitment?to?enhancing cooperation
KHARTOUM, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- Sudan and Egypt on Thursday reiterated commitment to enhancing cooperation and overcoming any barriers obstructing their historical ties.
Meetings of the joint political consultation committee between Sudan and Egypt on Thursday convened in the Sudanese capital Khartoum, chaired by Sudan's Foreign Minister Ibrahim Ghandour and his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry.
Speaking at a joint press conference, the two ministers regarded the meetings as evidence of willingness of the two countries' leadership to enhance bilateral relations.
The two ministers reiterated importance of continued coordination between the two countries' foreign ministries and the concerned bodies and institutions to achieve common benefits of the two peoples.
They further stressed commitment to working together to find solutions for all the issues obstructing the historical ties between Sudan and Egypt.
The two ministers also stressed the importance of security and military cooperation as the two countries are strategic to each other.
The Sudanese-Egyptian political consultation committee is one of the committees emanating from the higher presidential committee between the two countries, which held its first meeting in Cairo in October 2016.
In 2004, Sudan and Egypt signed an agreement of the four freedoms, which avails the citizens of the two countries freedoms of work, movement, residence and ownership.
Khartoum said it has fully implemented the agreement since it was signed, while Cairo continued to impose entry-visa on Sudanese aged between 18 and 50 years old.
However, in April 2017, Khartoum also started imposing entry visa on Egyptians who want to enter Sudan.
