国际英语新闻:OSCE envoy notes lack of progress in resolving conflict in Ukraine
MINSK, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- It was still not possible to come closer to resolving the conflict in Ukraine's Donbas, said Martin Sajdik, special envoy of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) to the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) on Ukraine.
Four years has passed since the signing of a set of measures to implement the Minsk agreements on Ukraine, the diplomat said on Wednesday, following the negotiations in Minsk. He expressed regret that the agreements had not been fully implemented.
Sajdik added that he had talked about this at a meeting of the UN Security Council, which was convened on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of the signing of a set of measures.
He informed that the international community showed great concern about the events in the east of Ukraine. The meeting participants paid special attention to the humanitarian aspect of the conflict and the need to ensure the safety of civilians, and noted the role of the OSCE in resolving the conflict in the east of Ukraine.
The next meeting of the contact group is scheduled for Feb. 27.
The TCG is a group of representatives from Ukraine, Russia and the OSCE to facilitate a diplomatic solution to the conflict in eastern Ukraine.
