国际英语新闻:Kabul seeks clarification from Washington over President Trump's remarks on Afghanistan
KABUL, July 23 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan government has demanded clarification from Washington on President Donald Trump's remarks on Afghanistan, said a statement of Presidential Palace released here Tuesday.
President Trump, according to media reports, made the remarks in meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan in Washington on Monday.
The Afghan Presidential Palace said in the statement, "Afghanistan as one of the most deep-rooted and ancient countries of the world has been able to overcome countless crisis throughout history. The Afghan nation has not and will never allow any foreign power to determine its fate."
"Our cooperation and partnership with the world countries, particularly with the United States, is based on common interests and mutual respect," the statement asserted.
"Given the multifaceted relationship between Afghanistan and the United States, the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan calls for clarification on the U.S. president's statements expressed at a meeting with the Pakistan prime minister, via diplomatic means and channels," the statement of Afghan Presidential Palace went to say.
