国际英语新闻:Chicago ranked as greenest place to work in U.S.
CHICAGO, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- Chicago has been ranked as the greenest place to work in the United States for the third year in a row, local media reported this week.
According to the 2019 National Green Building Adoption Index, 71.1 percent of the office buildings in Chicago are market-certified green, outranking San Francisco, Atlanta, Minneapolis-St. Paul and Los Angeles.
This was a slight increase from the previous year, when the Midwestern city recorded 69.8 percent.
Researchers also found green-certified office space across America's 30 largest office markets has reached 42.2 percent in 2019, up from 41.9 percent the year before and marking a new high.
"With a mix of old and new buildings, Chicago is a wonderful example of how cities can implement green building practices in both new construction and retrofits," said Spencer Levy, chairman of Americas Research for CBRE and senior economic advisor. "These efforts not only benefit the city and the environment, but also deliver real costs savings to owners and investors."
