国际英语新闻:Saudi king calls Trump after Saudi national goes on shooting spree in U.S. military base
WASHINGTON, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- The King of Saudi Arabia called U.S. President Donald Trump Friday after the shooter that killed three people at a U.S. military base earlier in the day was confirmed to be a Saudi national.
"King Salman of Saudi Arabia just called to express his sincere condolences and give his sympathies," Trump said in a tweet, adding the Saudi king said the shooter "in no way, shape or form represents the feelings of the Saudi people."
The call came hours after a shooting spree at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida, on Friday morning that claimed the lives of three people and that of the shooter. According to U.S. media outlets, the shooter has been identified as a Saudi national receiving military training at the base.
U.S. law enforcement is reportedly looking into whether the shooting was terrorism related.
"It's possible today's attack at Naval Air Station Pensacola was motivated by a personal grievance & not ideology, but it has many of the markings of an act motivated by international terrorism," tweeted U.S. Senator for Florida Marco Rubio.
