国际英语新闻:Brazil makes strides toward OECD membership: Bolsonaro
BRASILIA, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- Brazil has made significant progress in meeting the requisites to become a member of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Brazil's President Jair Bolsonaro said on Wednesday.
The government, said Bolsonaro, will continue to strive to meet the demands of the organization.
Brazil's membership depends on how the country adopts recommendations established by the OECD.
The United States on Tuesday announced it plans to recommend Brazil be the next country to be accepted as a full member.
"That is great news. We spent months working on it, discreetly, of course," said Bolsonaro.
Other Latin American member countries of the OECD are Mexico and Chile.
