国际英语新闻:Ukraine and Turkey intend to expand trade, investment cooperation
KIEV, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed the increase of bilateral trade and investment with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during the eighth meeting of the bilateral High-Level Strategic Council held in Kiev, the Ukrainian president's press service said Monday.
The two leaders talked about the growth of bilateral trade and discussed signing an agreement on a free trade zone between the two countries. They expressed the hope for strengthening cooperation in various fields, including trade, energy and investment.
Following the meeting, the two sides also signed an agreement on military and financial cooperation, a protocol of the implementation of financial aid, and an agreement on mutual recognition of driving licenses.
Ukrainian Minister of Infrastructure Vladyslav Kryklii invited Turkish partners to increase investment in the Ukrainian road and port sector.
Earlier it was reported that trade volume between Ukraine and Turkey amounted to 4.36 billion U.S. dollars during the first 11 months of 2019. In 2018, it was 4.04 billion U.S. dollars.
Erdogan arrived in Kiev on Monday for one-day official visit. The meeting was the second between the two presidents over the past six months.
