国际英语新闻:Zelensky, Putin discuss Donbass ceasefire by telephone
KIEV, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin and discussed implementing agreements reached during a summit in Paris, the Ukrainian president's press service said Friday.
At the last meeting of the Normandy Four leaders in Paris earlier this month after a three-year interval, Ukraine and Russia agreed on a comprehensive implementation of a ceasefire in Donbass by the end of 2019.
The two leaders also paid special attention to the release of Ukrainian citizens held in the territories of Donbass and Crimea, as well as in the Russian Federation.
The Normandy Four format, which groups Russia, Ukraine, France and Germany, was created in June 2014, when leaders of the four countries met on the margins of the 70th anniversary of the D-Day allied landings in Normandy to resolve the Donbass conflict, which erupted in April that year.
