CARACAS, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- Venezuelan Foreign Affairs Minister Jorge Arreaza on Tuesday celebrated a resolution by the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) "to strengthen joint work" between the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and Venezuela.
The resolution was approved "despite fierce pressure from the United States and its satellites at the Human Rights Council," Arreaza said on Twitter.
"We appreciate the support for the resolution by free and sovereign governments truly interested in the UN cooperating in coordinating policies to guarantee human rights," he added.
He stressed that the Venezuelan government's commitment to human rights "is absolute."
