国际英语新闻:Pakistani FM calls for coordinated response to help developing countries recover from COVID-
ISLAMABAD, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Friday called for a strong and coordinated response to help developing countries recover effectively from the COVID-19 crisis, according to the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan.
Qureshi made the remarks while addressing a virtual ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).
Qureshi said the COVID-19 pandemic revalidated the importance of NAM's founding principles rooted in solidarity, international cooperation and respect for multilateralism, and urged the NAM members to reaffirm collective commitment to these values which are more relevant today than ever before.
He called for strict adherence to the principles and purposes of the UN Charter, addressing the existing and emerging challenges to peace and security, especially the root causes of conflicts such as foreign occupation and suppression of fundamental rights.
