国际英语新闻:U.S. Texas to distribute largest COVID-19 vaccine this week: governor
HOUSTON, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- U.S. state of Texas Governor Greg Abbott said on Tuesday that the largest shipment of COVID-19 vaccine so far is set to be distributed this week.
During a roundtable in Houston, Abbott updated where Texas stood on the vaccination rollout. According to the governor, more than 1.3 million doses have already been administered in the state. This week another 843,000 doses will be distributed, the largest shipment so far.
Abbott said that about 1.7 million doses have been shipped to Texas provider and the state has administered 78 percent of all doses allocated so far. Harris County where Houston is located has administered far more vaccines than any other Texas county, said the governor.
The fast spread of COVID-19 has continued in Texas, with over 1.8 million confirmed cases as of Tuesday. Official figures showed that the Lone Star state added 8,312 cases and 310 fatalities on Tuesday.
