国际英语新闻:Yemen's Houthi militia says launches drone attacks at Saudi King Khalid Air Base
SANAA, March 19 (Xinhua) -- Yemen's Houthi militia said they launched attacks at King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushait city of southwestern Saudi Arabia on Friday, using two explosive-laden drones.
"The attacks hit the targets inside the air base accurately," Houthi-run al-Masirah TV quoted the militia military spokesman Yehya Sarea as saying.
This is the second Houthi attack against Saudi Arabia on Friday. Earlier in the day, the Houthis claimed a drone attack on the Aramco oil facility in the Saudi capital Riyadh, which the Saudi authorities said caused a fire in the facility.
The Houthis have stepped up cross-border attacks against Saudi cities and oil facilities, but most of the attacks were foiled by the Saudi-led coalition forces.
Yemen has been mired in a civil war since late 2014 when the Iran-backed Houthis seized control of several northern Yemeni provinces and forced the internationally-recognized government of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi out of the capital Sanaa.
The Saudi-led Arab coalition intervened in the Yemeni conflict in 2015 to support Hadi's government.
