欧美文化:Jordan's health minister tests positive for COVID-19
AMMAN, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- Jordan's Minister of Health Firas Hawari on Sunday announced that he was tested positive for COVID-19.
Saying his health condition is stable, Hawari noted he has committed to home quarantine procedures and protocols subject to the infected people, the state-run Petra news agency reported.
On Sunday, Jordan reported 6,951 new infections of the virus, increasing the caseload since the start of the pandemic to 1,141,048, the Jordanian Ministry of Health said in a statement.
The ministry also announced 11 deaths from the coronavirus, raising the kingdom's COVID-19 death toll to 13,073.
The share of tests returning positive, known as the positive rate, stood at 19.54 percent, the statement said, noting that there are currently 45,768 active COVID-19 cases in the country.
The statement added that 3,396 recoveries were registered in hospitals and home quarantine on Sunday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,082,207.
The total number of people who received the first doses of COVID-19 vaccine has reached 4,551,296 and 4,157,442 have taken their second shots, according to the statement.
