TEHRAN, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- Iran and Türkiye on Tuesday called for strengthening legal and judicial cooperation, official news agency IRNA reported.
In a meeting in the capital Tehran, Iranian Justice Minister Amir-Hossein Rahimi and Turkish Ambassador to Iran Hicabi Kirlangic also called for activating the joint committee for the implementation of the convict extradition agreement between the two countries, according to the report.
The Iranian minister said bilateral relations between the two countries were strong and based on brotherhood and friendship, adding the expansion of the ties between Iran and Türkiye has always been on the Iranian government's agenda.
The ground is prepared for the promotion of the bilateral trade cooperation and relations, he added.
The Turkish ambassador, for his part, welcomed the development of "age-old" and "brotherly" relations between the two countries.
With the expansion of the bilateral legal and judicial relations, Türkiye and Iran would see greater cooperation, particularly in the field of prisoner exchanges, said Kirlangic.
