欧美文化:Tunisian president underlines need to strengthen security in Arab societies
TUNIS, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian President Kais Saied on Monday stressed the need to reach an approach that contributes to enhancing the security of Arab societies, according to a statement released by the Tunisian presidency.
While hosting participants of the 41st session of the Arab Interior Ministers Council launched in Tunis on Monday, Saied called for efforts to deal effectively with all security challenges facing the countries of the region, especially terrorism, extremism, drugs, cyber threats, illegal immigration, and transcontinental crimes.
For his part, Saudi Interior Minister Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, also the honorary chairman of the council, said the regularly scheduled council meetings "reflects the common awareness of the importance of coordination to confront all the challenges facing not only the Arab region but the entire world."
Interior ministers of Egypt, Qatar, Syria, Yemen, Lebanon, Sudan and Djibouti attended the event.
According to the council's general secretariat, based in Tunis, participants of the event will discuss the 11th Arab security plan, and the 9th Arab media plan for security awareness, as well as several other reports.
