欧美文化:4 rockets target U.S. troops at airbase in Iraq
BAGHDAD, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- Four rockets on Monday evening attacked the Ayn al-Asad Airbase in Iraq's western Anbar province, where U.S. troops are stationed, an Iraqi army officer said.
Two of the rockets were intercepted by anti-aircraft weapons while the other two landed in the perimeter of the airbase without causing casualties, Saad al-Obaidi from Anbar Operations Command told Xinhua.
The Iraqi security forces launched a search operation in the areas to locate the attackers, al-Obaidi said.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Since the outbreak of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the Gaza Strip on Oct. 7, 2023, an armed group known as "Islamic Resistance in Iraq" has launched hundreds of rocket and drone attacks on bases housing U.S. forces in Iraq and Syria.
