新政策出台应对高涨的房价
As the central government takes measures to curb soaring housing prices, local governments are also acting. Qingdao, Chongqing and Guangzhou governments all plan to build more affordable housing.
Qingdao to provide low-rent and affordable housing
Shandong Province's coastal city of Qingdao plans to provide 3-thousand low-rent apartments and 5-thousand other affordable apartments this year.
The first six projects entail 21-hundred apartments. The affordable dwellings will be sold to public by end of June and will measure 65 square meters or fewer.
Liu Weiqi, Official of Qingdao City Government, said, "The price of the city's affordable apartments is 39-hundred yuan per square meter. Commercial houses will be sold at more than 10-thousand yuan per square meter."
Three thousand low-rent apartments are under construction. They will be distributed by the year end.
Chongqing to build low-rent housing
Southwestern China's Chongqing municipality plans to built low-rent housing totaling 40 million square meters within ten years. Five million square meters will be built this year and 20 million square meters will be completed within three years.
Migrant Worker, Chongqing, said, "For migrant workers, low-rent housing provides good living conditions."
The plan aims to address housing problems for those who cannot afford to buy houses in short term. This group includes young urban residents, university graduates and migrant workers.
The municipal government has unveiled its report of the city's housing. It found high-income earners account for 10 percent of the population and can afford high-priced houses. Middle-income earners make up 60 percent, and will be able to buy mid to low-priced houses within six and a half years. Low-income earners account for the remaining 30 percent, and will be able to live in low-rent housing provided by government.
Guangzhou to build price-limit houses
The southern Chinese city of Guangzhou has earmarked land for housing developers. They will build homes priced just below the market's value. The city government announced this year that it will take responsibility for construction and determine who receives the housing based on actual needs.
Hhuang Wenbo, Official Guangzhou City Government, said, "If home prices rise rapidly and the market demands price-limit homes, newly constructed homes will be sold under such terms. That means the government must save land and homes to supply the market efficiently based on market conditions."
Guangzhou will allocate 400-thousand square meters of land this year to developers to build price-limit homes. Ten thousand apartments will be built, covering a total area of 700-thousand square meters. The government will also construct homes with price limits to boost housing supplies.
