We begin in the NBA the long anticipated Christmas Day showdown tipped off at the Staples Center in LA.

The Lakers lost to LeBron James' Cavs last year. Could Kobe lead LA past the Heat and the Miami Big Three? This game was also considered by some pundits as the preview of this season's NBA finals.

Early in the opening quarter, Bryant backed in and set up Lamar Odom. The Lakers got off to a solid start, but L-A's composure vanished despite a raucous home court crowd.

Miami played with patience. LeBron nailed a three less than 4 minutes in the period. The Heat came back to take a 17-10 lead, and set the tone of the action to come.

Late in the second quarter, James again, from the corner. He hit a three and Miami stretched its lead to 12. James would hit a season-high 5 three pointers

The Lakers answered with a solid run. Kobe to Pau Gasol for a thunderous two handed slam. The Spaniard made it 43-36. Gasol added 17 points, but Miami went on to close out the first half leading 47-38.

late in the third James again. he drove and shot a three. The Heat were hot to open the second half. They enjoyed a 14-point cushion.

Early in the fourth Shannon Brown's three kept the Lakers hope alive, but they still trailed big against Miami.

Minutes later, the Heat launched a massive run. Dwayne Wade had 18 points. He missed this shot but LeBron cleaned it up. James finished with his third triple double for the Heat, and the 31st in his career.

Kobe kept his cool to put in a missed lay-up. Bryant finished with 17 points, but he was totally outplayed by his counterpart James

Chris Bosh put a missed shot, and Miami coasted to a 96-80 win, celebrating their Christmas Day in L-A.

LeBron's triple included 27 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. and the Heat thrived on their 13th win in a row and 9 straight away victory.
