当中国的橘子走向世界

Known as the capital of Mandarin oranges, Nanfeng in the Jiangxi province of East China does not content itself with success in the country, but aims for an international market. So the local government has created several special industrial zones to make sure export goes smoothly.
中国东部江西省南丰县以桔都而闻名,南丰并没有满足于国内的成功,还把目光投向了国际市场。所以,当地政府创立了几个特色产业园区来确保出口顺利。

Residents in Nanfeng know how to take advantage of nature’s bounty. The much-loved fruit now has a chance to satisfy clients all over the globe. But before taking off, they must look their best. In this factory in the north of the county, more than 300 workers make sure the fruit looks beautiful and appetizing.
南丰县的居民知道如何利用自然赐予的恩惠。这种受人喜爱的水果现在有机会去满足全世界的客人。但是在起飞之前,它们的样子来必须是最好看的。在该县北部的这个工厂里,有300多名工人来确保这种水果看起来漂亮、鲜美。

Luo Dongliang, general director of Jiangxi Taina Nanfeng Orange Co., Ltd, said, "We only use organic fertilizer and biological insecticides. We do so because we want a sweeter fruit and to protect the environment. We have started using photoelectric sorting to improve quality."
江西泰纳南丰蜜桔有限公司主管Luo Dongliang表示:“我们只用绿色化肥和生物杀虫剂。我们这样做是因为我们想收获一种更甜的水果,还有保护环境。我们已经开始光电挑选来提高质量。”

To ensure freshness, all the oranges should be packed within 24 hours after picking. New technology has been crucial to Nanfeng mandarins’ success. Like other companies, foodstuff makers are becoming more dependent on their reputation.
为了确保新鲜,所有的桔子在采摘后的24小时内必须包装好。新科技对南丰桔的成功来说至关重要。和其它公司一样,食品生产商越来越依靠他们的声誉。

The only way to compete in the market is by improving the quality of their products, so many producers have turned to new materials, automation and direct distribution to cut production costs.
参与到市场竞争的唯一方法是提高产品质量,所以很多生产商通过新材料、自动化技术和直接分销来降低生产成本。

There is another problem: how to deal with market price fluctuations caused by rising productivity. In 2011, the total harvest will reach 100 million tons – triple that of last year. This big increase means prices have fallen sharply. Is this also the case for the exports? Not necessarily…

Luo Dongliang said, "A good reputation among our customers means our brand becomes more famous, which encourages further purchases, which further promotes our reputation. What we need to do is guarantee the quality of our products to keep this cycle going. Moreover, the improving quality of our products helps stabilize prices in whole industry."
Luo Dongliang指出:“在客户中赢得好的声誉意味着我们的品牌变得更出名,这将鼓励进一步的购买,进一步提升我们的名气。我们需要做的是保证产品质量,让这种循环继续保持下去。此外,提高产品质量有助于稳定整个行业的价格。”

Today a 75, 000 square meter factory can produce more than 100,000 mandarin oranges every season, and numbers are growing. The goal is clear: to make local mandarins more popular and invite more people than ever to enjoy their sweetness.
今天,一个7.5万平方米的工厂每个季节可以生产10万个蜜桔,数量还在增长。目标是明确的:使当地的桔子更受欢迎,邀请比任何时候更多的客人来享受他们的甜蜜。
