新年离开喧嚣的人群

Away from the spectacular lightshows, the partying, the noise and the fireworks, some New Year revellers enjoyed a slightly quieter start to 2012. Many chose to escape the cities, and take a New Year’s excursion to some more remote places, to join local residents across China for new year’s eve.
远离壮观的灯展、派对、喧哗声和烟花，一些新年的欢庆者享受了一个稍微安静一点的2012年的开端。新年前夕，许多人选择避开城市，到中国一些相对偏远的地方，加入到当地居民之中，进行一个新年远足。

In Fubao County, near Kunming in Yunnan Province, people celebrated New Year’s eve with a performance of multi-ethnic dancing. For hundreds of years, Yi people, Dong people and many other ethnic minorities have been living by Dianchi lake.
在云南省昆明附近的福保村，人们以一场多民族舞蹈表演来跨年。几百年来，彝族、侗族和其它许多少数民族都依滇池湖而居。

The traditional festive display went down well with both domestic and foreign visitors.
传统的节日展览很受国内外游客的欢迎。

Xiao Yan, Director, Fubao Cultural Tourism Office, said, "People enjoy watching the shows, and I think our very own ethnic elements are the highlight. The development of local tourism needs a cultural dimension, to give it a unique perspective."
福保文化旅游办公室主任Xiao Yan表示：“人们喜欢看这些表演，我觉得我们自己的民族元素是最精彩的部分。为了给它一个独特的视角，当地旅游业的发展需要一个文化维度。”

Over in Sanya in Hainan Province, there’s a wide range of interesting experiences for tourists to enjoy, such as Li dances, boat-shaped huts, jackets made of tree skin and Li embroidery. Residents insist their culture is alive and thriving.. and it’s something they want to share with others.

In Guangdong Province, craftsmen in Jieyang city demonstrate the local jade culture to visitors from across the globe. In the exhibition hall, the jade masters explain their thoughts and ideas behind their art.
