The CBA finals tip off on Wednesday. First-timer Beijing will challenge the reigning champion Guangdong in the best of seven series. Stephon Marbury is making his championship series debut for Beijing after guiding the Ducks through to the final round. The former New York Knicks guard expects a tough series, but he is confident of winning his first CBA title.

Beijing Ducks star Stephon Marbury is in high spirits ahead of the team’s CBA finals debut. Marbury averaged 40.4 points and 5.8 assists-per-game in the semifinal series against Shanxi Brave Dragons.

The champs have enjoyed a break lasting for more than 10 days, due to the postponed schedule between Beijing and Shanxi. Head coach Li Chunjiang says the long break has been a headache, because it’s hard for the squad to maintain form without playing any games.

And the team is considered to have the strongest lineup, featuring several key Chinese national players, as well as former NBA stars like Aaron Brooks.
