国际铁路有助于中国西部发展
Yu-Xin-Ou is a Chinese abbreviation for a railway connecting Chongqing, Xinjiang and Europe. It serves as a shortcut for transporting computer components produced in the southwest of China to Europe. CCTV's reporter Xu Zhaoqun travelled to Chongqing for the details.
Once a week, containers of computer components are loaded onto a special train waiting inside the logistic park in a suburb of Chongqing. They will first be sent to Europe, then to the rest of the world.
Wu Bo, transport security manager of Yuxinou Logistics, said, "This is the starting point of Yu-Xin-Ou railway. Our responsibility is to guarantee the micro electronic products be sent out in time."
Some computer devices are damaged after traveling through central Asia in the winter.
The company recently solved the issue by improving the warming system onboard, allowing trains filled with computers to travel all the way to west Europe throughout the year. The entire trip to Rotterdam takes 16 days, 24 days less than ocean shipping. And companys are saving not only time, but money.
Lin Dingli, V. president of Quanta Computer, said, "One fifth of our products are transported on Yu-Xin-Ou. One point three dollars is saved on each laptop's logistic cost. That means an extra profit of nearly 5 million dollars ".
Yu-Xin-Ou is a joint venture set up by four countries along the line. Their arrangement allows for customs declarations to be done at the start point. The line has attracted import and export business from many other provinces including Sichuan and Guangdong.
Yang Liqiong, vice director of Logistics Council of Chongqing, said, "Setting up the green channel of logistics means a lot to the national strategy of western development. It also helps improve international exchange in the western part of the country."
The joint venture also collects cargo along the line, bringing more imports into China to ease the country's trade surplus.
