高温热浪继续袭击中国南方
China's National Meteorological Bureau says the country's northern regions will get a break from recent high temperatures, while the heat wave is set to continue in the country's south.
The short-term weather forecast says thunderstorms are expected to cool the nation's northern regions on Wednesday, dragging temperatures in Beijing and Tianjin down to 30 and 33 degrees Celsius.
However, temperatures in the south of the country are expected to reach as high as 37 degrees Celsius. In Shanghai, the weather bureau has issued a 'yellow heat alert' for the fourth consecutive day. Temperatures are expected to hit 38 degrees Celsius in the coming days, accompanied by high levels of humidity. Local authorities are urging residents to avoid direct exposure to the sun and to use extra protection while outdoors.
