The 18th CPC National Congress has captured the attention of the US elite in many sectors, including politics and business. They say they’ve learnt more about China’s political and economic development through the congress, and become more confident about China’s future.

The US Council for International Business is composed of over 300 multinational enterprises in the US, including Apple, Boeing and Google. Founded in 1945, it offers legal advice and policy guidance to help enterprises to enter foreign markets. The senior Vice President of the council has commented favorably on China’s development.

Robert Mulligan, Sen. Vice President, US Council for International Business, said, "I think China has done a lot of great things in terms of investing in infrastructure, investing in education and science, and I think that they have laid a great groundwork for continue economic growth that I think will be important to the whole world. I believe in the next ten years, China will maintain the momentum."

Julia Chang Bloch, the first Chinese American female ambassador, comes from the first generation of Chinese immigrants. She was the US ambassador to Nepal in 1989, and founded the US-China Education Trust in 1988, a bridge for educational exchanges for Chinese and American students and scholars.

Julia Chang Bloch, Former US Ambassador to Nepal, said, "As China rises, as China becomes an economic or is already an economic power, more and more people, not just Americans, will want to understand China."

Michael Schlesinger works for the International Intellectual Property Alliance. As an expert in the field, he says China has made remarkable achievements in intellectual property protection in the past ten years. The 18th CPC National Congress has once again emphasized the policy of protecting intellectual property, and this gives him confidence that China’s cultural industry will flourish.

Michael Schlesinger, Representative, International Intellectual Property Alliance, said, "I’m very hopeful that... the most expecting aspect to see the growth of the Chinese publishing industry, the Chinese software industry, the game development and also the film and music industry."

Many of the elite also say they believe a more opened-up and developed China will bring more opportunities for the world.
