冷空气再次来袭
A fresh cold wave has brought snow, strong winds and temperature drops to different parts of China. Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, north China and northeast China were the regions hardest hit.
Rarely seen heavy snow and strong winds hit Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Wednesday.
As much as 7 millimetres of snow have since accumulated, while temperatures dropped by 8 degrees Celsius in the northwest of Xinjiang.
Local resident said,"I have never seen such heavy snow. I am 45 years old. This storm is really terrifying."
Due to the heavy snow, visibility on certain roads has dropped to less than 10 meters. Local police is on special alert for any emergencies.
In Inner Mongolia, the cold front has shrouded many cities in dense fog. Local temperatures have dropped to minus 39 Degrees Celsius, with visibility in some areas below 30 meters.
Local resident said,"It’s really cold. It may be coldest weather we have ever experienced."
Weather forecasts in the region predict more snow for the coming three days, with temperatures expected to drop by a further 8 degrees.
Local departments have taken measures to curb the impacts on airlines, transportation and farming.
Meanwhile, low temperatures have brought the first snow to Hubei, Jiangsu and Anhui provinces.
