American mothers in favor of gun control have taken their cause to the streets of New York. On Sunday, the group called One Million Moms for gun control called on Congress to follow New York’s lead.

The Million Mom march went all the way across the Brooklyn Bridge to New York City Hall. The group wants Congress to pass President Barack Obama’s sweeping gun control proposals to reduce gun violence. Those include a ban on assault weapons and large magazines, as well as closing loopholes that allow some gun sales without background checks.

The group is pushing for boundaries on how much ammunition can be purchased. They also want limits on the scope of concealed weapons laws. One Million Moms for Gun Control was formed after last month’s massacre at a Connecticut elementary school. It also plans to march in Washington DC on Saturday.
