GoalControl获巴西世界杯“门线技术”合同

2013-04-04来源:CCTV9

FIFA surprisingly opted for GoalControl as the goal-line technology system set to be used at next year’s World Cup. Football’s governing body chose the German firm over more established rivals like Hawk-Eye.

GoalControl-4D uses 14 high-speed cameras placed strategically around a stadium tracking the ball’s position. A signal is transmitted to the referee’s watch within one second if a goal should be awarded.

The system will be used at six Confederations Cup stadiums and will be rolled out for the World Cup if it meets all requirements. It is similar to, what was considered to be the favorite, Hawk-Eye. Most believed the British company would get the nod from FIFA after success in tennis and cricket. GoalControl was formed just last year and was only approved by FIFA to bid for the World Cup one month ago.

Vitor Baia, Former Barcelona and Portugal Goalkeeper, said, "I believe that this technology should have come earlier. What has been happening at the greatest international tournaments was already demanding it. What we can conclude on this matter is that, since the Goal is the essence of football, seriousness and the accuracy of the device is mandatory, in all aspects, in everything related to any doubt that might appear in a particular play."

Jerome Valcke, FIFA Secretary General, said, "It will be still with the referee. The referee will be the only one who will get the information. The referee will decide if he has the feeling that it’s a goal or the goal was not right goal and, even so the ball is in, I mean, it was not scored in the normal way. And it was a mistake. Again it will be the referee who will make the final decision."
