第22届东盟首脑会议在文莱开幕

Leaders of the 10 member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations have arrived in Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei, for the 22nd ASEAN Summit.

The theme is "Our People, Our Future Together". The leaders are expected to discuss the tasks towards building an ASEAN community by 2015. They’re also likely to address tensions on the Korean Peninsula and the situations in the South China Sea and East China Sea.

The World Bank forecasts that the ASEAN and the Asia-Pacific are expected to grow by 7.9 percent this year, and 7.6 percent in 2014.

This makes the region one of the fastest growing regions in the world. Wednesday and Thursday’s meetings are also expected to set the agenda for following meetings this year, with the next summit in October.
