特殊医疗团队在雅安不知疲倦地工作

More than 180 medical teams operating in the disaster zone have so far treated nearly 15, 000 injured people. Many of them owe their lives to these doctors working non-stop round the clock. But among these doctors, is a special team that has been formed to help with the medical relief effort.

Only a year and two months old and already suffered serious burns.

This boy, hurt in the Sichuan earthquake was suffering high fever when he was brought into hospital.

And it was thanks to a multi-disciplinary team of doctors that he was saved.

An Youzhong, medical expert, said, "Apart from the symptoms that are visible, there might be potential risks of other diseases as well. We take measures to prevent that from happening. And timely treatment could help reduce the rate of death and physical disability."

Wang Aiqin, medical expert, said, "We will treat patients by ourselves, if local doctors don’t have the expertise to do so."

This team of medical experts is special. 16 of them have been drafted in specially from three provinces to advise local doctors in the earthquake zone.

And with expertise in nine fields, their suggestions are proving invaluable to the relief effort.
