台风带来强风和暴雨
Typhoon Soulik, the seventh typhoon to hit the Chinese mainland this year, has made landfall in eastern Fujian Province.
The National Meteorological Center said the typhoon made landfall in Lianjiang County at 4 pm Saturday. Wind speeds at the typhoon’s center reached a top speed of 118 kilometers per hour. Before reaching the mainland, Soulik first made landfall in China’s Taiwan.
It hit the region between Yilan county and Xinbei city at around 3 am Saturday, leaving two dead, one missing, and more than 100 injured. The typhoon has brought strong winds and heavy rains to Fujian and Zhejiang provinces. With a weakening force, Soulik later entered Fujian’s neighboring Jiangxi Province this morning, bringing heavy rain.
