中国进一步发展老年护理服务

China has set a target of establishing a comprehensive care system for the elderly by 2020. It will create 10 million jobs in the industry, and set up facilities and service stations to cover almost all urban and over half of rural communties.

The State Council issued a series of opinions on speeding up elderly care development.

Data shows there are only 21 beds available for every 1,000 elderly people in China’s nursing homes. The government aims to increase the figure to 35 or 40.

China has a rapidly ageing society and the largest population of elderly people in the world, reaching almost 200 million.
