2013-09-19来源:CCTV9

The Mid-Autumn Festival, which falls on Thursday this year, is the second most important festival in China.

Tradition calls for families to get together and observe the moon. Though mooncakes are commonly enjoyed across the country, different places mark the occasion with their own local food.

In southern Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, people eat snail noodle soup. In eastern Anhui province, dishes usually contain tofu. People in Anhui believe that eating tofu on Mid-Autumn Day brings good luck.

The festival is also marked by various activities across the country, such as lantern exhibitions and dragon dances. In eastern Zhejiang province, the famous Qiantang tidal bore is a must-see activity. Every year, it attracts tens of thousands of tourists.
