诺曼底登陆70周年纪念

Friday marks the 70th anniversary of the D-Day Landings during the Second World War. Omaha Beach was one of the five beaches where allied troops landed 7 decades ago, and today will host veterans and world leaders for a commemoration ceremony.

2014 will be marked by a large number of commemorations and festivities including firework displays, parades, parachutes, military events, open air concerts and much more.

Eight official commemorative activities will be held to mark the D-Day Landings.

19 national leaders, including French President Francois Hollande, US President Barack Obama, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and more than 1,800 veterans have been invited to attend the ceremonies.
