In the NBA, LeBron James made a highly-publicized decision four years ago, when he left the Cleveland Cavaliers to join the Miami Heat, and now the four-time MVP will go through free agency again.

LBJ has announced that he will opt out of the final two years of his contract with Miami, which means he could join another team, but he might also agree to return to the Heat with a restructured deal.

James has led Miami to four consecutive trips to the NBA Finals, and the team has won two championships during that time, but their most recent appearance ended in a resounding loss to the San Antonio Spurs. That defeat reinforced the notion that James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh need a restructured cast around them, if they plan to stay together, in an attempt to lead the Heat back to the top of the league. Wade and Bosh also have opt-out clauses in their contracts, but have not yet announced their plans.
