A new TV series on ABC follows a young woman named April Carver who discovers that she has leukemia.

ABC Family's new series "Chasing Life" is striking a nerve with many people. Italia Ricci stars as April,  an aspiring journalist striving to work up the ladder and balancing family life with her widowed mother and rebellious sister. But just when things begin to look up at work, she's rocked to her core when she is diagnosed with leukemia. Ricci says she takes pride in the show because it's very true to life.

Though April's journey with cancer is definitely part of the show, the cast says there is so much more to their new series.
