厦门召回4.9吨涉台问题油产品
The mainland's coastal city of Xiamen has appealed to food importers to recall 4.9 tonnes of food made by two Taiwan brands.
Shanghai also removed 8,700 items of food products from shelves that could possibly contain tainted oil. The State Council Taiwan Affairs Office says no tainted lard oil from Taiwan had been imported to the mainland. The mainland's quality inspection authorities meanwhile have called a stop to imports of Taiwan products made with the adulterated oil.
Chang Guann Co., a cooking oil supplier in Taiwan, reportedly had produced lard with recycled cooking oil that was made from kitchen waste and grease from leather processing plants. Taiwan food safety authorities have slapped the company with a fine of 50-million New Taiwan dollars, equivalent to about 1.7 million US dollars.
