Two world records were broken in two different parts of the world on Sunday. The first was one man's feat of strength and dexterity; the second required planning and teamwork.

For many people, carrying two traditional one-liter German mugs of beer can be a challenge. But on Sunday a German man broke the world record, carrying 27 full mugs.

"I have worked here in the beer tent for the past 17 years, so I have had lots of training in carrying beer mugs. However, my personal best is 26 mugs at once, which is more than 60 kilograms," beer mug carrying world recorder holder Oliver Struempfel said.

On Sunday, Struempfel was up against just one competitor, and they had to carry as many full mugs as possible over a distance of 40 meters. Cheered on by the crowds inside the beer festival tent, Struempfel's opponent managed 26 mugs, each weighing around 2.3 kilograms. But Struempfel went one better with 27.

In Metepec, Mexico, chefs and artisans went down in the history books for assembling almost 9,500 tacos to create the largest Taco de Plaza and by serving it in the world's largest clay pot.

Thousands of hungry residents looked on as the Guinness official supervised the weighing of the tacos, which came in at almost 900 kilograms.

"The largest clay pot in the world and largest Taco de Plaza whichn is a plate from the Valle de Toluca which, in our area, is usually eaten on Mondays," tourism director Karina Montes De Oca said.

Taco de Plaza consists of more than 30 ingredients. The massive clay pot was 2.5 meters wide, 1.5 meters high and took local artisans renowned for their high-quality work with clay several months to create.
